What is the Register of Wills?
The Register of Wills for Baltimore County is a unique position in that the office conducts administrative probate and serves as the clerk of court for the Orphans’ Court. Residents may also use the office to store last will and testaments for safekeeping. The office facilitates the disposition of estates for the public upon the loss of a loved one. Users of the Register's Office must be met with compassion and sensitivity. This is a State agency with a heart and the Register of Wills sets the tone for the compassion of the office.
The Register is also integral in providing education to the public of the probate process and the importance of having a will.
